About me and my therapy practice
I am qualified to practice Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling and this is the foundation and at the heart of my professional practice but my style is eclectic and I bring some understanding of other theories such as Transactional Analysis and Relational theories. Person-centred counselling is an explorative style of counselling. The sessions 'belong' to the client and it is your choice what you bring to each and what pace we take. For some, counselling is all about the here and now; but for others it is important to go over the past to help us pick out patterns in order to identify themes and navigate a path if one emerges which links feelings and/or experiences in order to help you clarify in your own mind where changes might need to be made or instead acceptance reached. For others it is simply important that their history is whitnessed.
I am used to working with people who have been effected by childhood sexual abuse and young people (14 and over) effected by CSE (Childhood Sexual Exploitation). Also in particular young people who are suffering the effects of de-personalisation following social media infatuation and their anxiety about self-image. I am used to working with people of all ages particularly those effected by fatigue, coping with poor relationships, living with grief, who are in need of being more assertive, bullying at work, anxiety and with both men as well as women who have experienced mental domestic violence.
