About me and my therapy practice

Life can be a series of rollercoasters and emotional see-saws especially in these difficult times. Feelings of being anxious, depressed, low in mood or lonely often surface  and feel overwhelming but it is okay to ask for some support.

My name is Carolyne and I'm a trained integrative counsellor. My role is to listen to you and hear what you have to say, be empathetic, non-judgemental and support you to get some emotional clarity. By working alongside you we can help to restore your self-confidence and self-worth, work through difficult, and sometimes painful, issues and find better ways to cope with life.

I'm your sounding board and someone who can help you unpick what is going on for you in a safe and confidential environment. I'm here to support you in finding your own solutions and help you understand what is going on in your world. We work together to explore your emotions and address your feelings. Our work may take us to your past or be focused in the here and now.

Practice description

As an integrative practitioner, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches in our work. Sometimes this can be very person centred working with feelings or it can involve looking at past experiences and their impact.  I find people enjoy working creatively or using walk/talk therapy so there are lots of options to explore.

As a former secondary school teacher working with Key Stage 4 and 5  I can work to  support students from Year 11 to Year 13 and students who have transitioned from school to university or further/higher education and need support with issues that they may be experiencing.

I have volunteered for CRUSE offering bereavement and loss counselling as well as a local community-based charity. I have worked at a refuge for Women's Aid supporting survivors of all types of Domestic Abuse.

I am a qualified Yoga Instructor (Yoga Alliance)  and can offer support with self help tools such as breathing exercises for anxiety and mediation skills to help calm an anxious mind or refocus a busy brain.

Approaching someone for therapy can be really difficult, but having a quick chat to ask questions will give you an informed choice, so please feel free to contact me.

My first session

We use the first session to assess and discuss what is going on and how therapy can support you. The assessment will include some questions and running through the Therapeutic Contract (an agreement between us about how we work safely and confidentially).

Please allow up to an hour for your first session.
