About me and my therapy practice
About me: I have been a fully qualified counsellor for over twenty three years and worked in a broad variety of settings that have included homeless hostels, running youth and community projects, training youth and community workers, providing counselling and support in prisons and hospitals, running a children's hospice and I currently oversee a national family charity that gives extensive advice on family breakdown, wellbeing, bullying and online safety for young people.
All of the above have seen me work around areas that include substance misuse, bereavement and loss, mental health, couple support and working with young people. I am also a regular commentator on the family for national media that include broadsheets, radio and TV.
What I believe: Life is a gift but it is often complex, sometimes painful but always hopeful.
What I can offer: Listening is the greatest gift that we can offer each other and I am a fully qualified and registered counsellor and supervisor. I believe in the impact of the past on the present (psychodynamic) and have experienced countless times the transformational nature of conversation (therapy) to enable informed choices for the present.
