About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling with life? With our world changing daily because of the ongoing Coronavirus CORVID-19 pandemic, the impact of social distancing, health worries, survival fears, and financial concerns can leave us feeling overwhelmed by life, alone, anxious and full of uncertainty. Talking to a trained professional can help to process these emotions and make them feel more manageable. As the saying goes, talking helps.

I'm Dawn Boultwood, a BACP-registered counsellor offering online and telephone sessions to provide extra support during this difficult time. I have worked with people who have come to therapy for many different reasons including anxiety, stress, depression, low mood, loneliness, unwanted or overwhelming thoughts and fears, bereavement, fertility problems, relationship problems, work-related issues, accident/illness, or difficulty coping with a present or past event.

HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP

Counselling is an opportunity to stop for a moment and explore what is really going on for you with a trained counsellor.

My aim is to work with you to understand what your world is like for you, and what you are like as a unique individual, so that together we can explore your concerns, allow you to process any difficult thoughts or emotions, help to put your worries and fears into perspective, feel hope where all previously felt hopeless, and enable you to feel better able to cope and in more control of your life.

HOW I WORK

As a person-centred counsellor I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to healing. I work to build trust, mutual respect and the desire to work in partnership during my sessions, supporting, respecting and valuing my clients as I do so. I do this in a caring, comfortable, confidential and non-judgemental safe setting where clients can feel thoughtfully and sensitively listened to, and that their stories have been effectively heard.
