Walking can help stimulate thoughts and ideas and it connects your body and mind. Walking side by side with a counsellor can feel very natural and it’s a great change from our increasingly online lives. We can discuss routes suitable for you. I realise you can feel nervous about talking to a stranger but I offer a free first 30 minute session so we can have a chat to see if we can work together.
There are so many benefits to counselling. When you have made peace with things that have happened in your past it gives room for you to think about your present and your future. Learning to love yourself is a wonderful thing and it means others are more likely to respond to you more positively. Your communication and socialising skills will very likely improve and you will learn to change that voice in your head to a positive one.
What you can expect from me
My main training is Person-centred counselling which very much describes how I work. You are at the centre of our time together. You can talk and be heard in confidence with no judgement. I am outside your personal life and abide by a code of ethics which means you can share with me what you might not feel you can share with those close to you. I also bring methods and influences from other types of counselling I have had training and experience with, which can help with some issues.
If counselling online or on the phone seems daunting, I can help. I have chosen Zoom for online sessions as it is recommended due to good confidentiality measures. I can help you set this up and explain how it works. I have also set up an encrypted email account so we can send confidential information securely.
At the moment we can do counselling on the phone, online or 'Walk and Talk'.
I can offer short-term or long-term counselling depending on your needs. Either way, we will regularly review our work together so that you get the best from your sessions to understand yourself better, explore feelings or make changes in your life. It will be at your pace.
My first session
At the moment the first free 30-minute session will be on the phone.
I understand, and remember, that going to see a counsellor for the first time can be a bit scary so please don’t worry. I will be warm and welcoming and our first session will be an opportunity for you to tell me a bit about you and what you want from counselling. You will also be able to ask me any questions you may have about how we will work together.
We are all different and we all come to counselling for different reasons. All counsellors are different too and it is important to choose the right one for you. For this reason I offer a free first 30 minute session so that we can both decide if we can work together. Whatever the reason you are looking for support through counselling I will accept you and give you a safe space for us to work towards a better you.
