About me and my therapy practice
If you are feeling that you need some extra help to see you through a rough patch or if you want some help dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, family issues or relationship issues then I can help you. I provide a relaxed, confidential and comfortable space where you can talk about issues which may be troubling you.
By talking through the challenges you are facing, the work we do together can help you gain a new understanding of yourself. People from all walks of life come to see me, for all sorts of reasons. You may be facing a one-off challenge, such as bereavement or job loss or simply want to learn more about yourself. If you feel that you have not found the answers to your life’s issues alone, then talking to a counsellor can help you to overcome personal fears, challenge negative thought-processes and reconnect you with your inner strength and resources
I am a fully qualified, insured and accredited Person Centred Counsellor with the BACP. I work to see the world through your point of view, taking time to discover and hear your thoughts and feelings. The therapy sessions can help you view yourself with a new awareness and in doing so help you to find a more peaceful way of being in your life. I will not judge you in any way. You may find yourself sharing in sessions things you have never felt able to say to friends. I work with you at your pace and focus on what you want to, in a time frame that suits you. This can be deep work. Together we will create a trustful and confidential relationship, talking through your experiences during therapy will leave you feeling heard and can help you to find contentment in your life.
Together we can discuss problems that may feel overwhelming and impossible to resolve alone. Person Centred Counselling is a collaborative endeavour to find a way through the darkness, and lean inwards to find your own inner strength and solutions to your own life issues.
I am a EMDR practitioner in training. I offer EMDR sessions from 60 – 90 minutes.
Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing Therapy works to target your past and current issues and helps you face the future more adaptively. EMDR uses your own rapid, rhythmic eye movements to dampen the power of emotionally charged memories that seem stuck.
My first session
The initial step into counselling can feel daunting. You may be feeling confused, isolated and anxious, and the idea of reaching out for help can seem overwhelming.
In the first session we will have an assessment to discuss what your expectation of counselling is and what you would like the outcome of therapy to be. We will talk about what you might like to focus on and how you currently experience your life. You may have questions or have never experienced counselling before, we can talk through all aspects of what will happen and what you can expect. There is some paperwork to go through . Ultimately this is also an opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me. Counselling is a regular commitment and I see clients once a week for a 60 minute session. I offer short term, long term and open ended counselling.
