About me and my therapy practice
In these strange times that we are living in, we find ourselves faced with many challenges that may intensify our prevailing internal struggles. It can often propel us to search for some clarity and understanding. Self-isolating can bring on fear and anxiety, uncertainty around our livelihoods can trigger old and new coping strategies that may feel damaging to one's self.
Relationships play an important part in our lives because we are born with the resources and ability to form meaningful contacts with others. However, sometimes something happens in childhood or later in life, that interrupts this flow. We become stuck in fixed patterns and beliefs about ourselves that get in the way of the flow. I see therapy as an invitation to look at the past and present in a safe space with compassion and empathy.
Therapy helps us to develop self-compassion, to quieten our critical mind and to learn how to experience a calmer and more peaceful life.
I am a relational counselling therapist, using person-centred and gestalt approaches to help people understand that the patterns that emerge in their relationships are the key to who they are and how they feel.
I have been in professional practice for nine years, working as an addiction counsellor. During that time, I have worked with clients with a diverse range of needs and mental health challenges. I have extensive experience of working with LGBTQ+ clients. In our work, together, we have explored issues around chemsex, sexuality, shame, and addiction.
