About me and my therapy practice
People see a counsellor for many reasons, not just that they are feeling there is a crisis. On having counselling some people say; “I don’t want someone telling me what to do”. Counselling is not someone telling you what to do, it is an opportunity to explore in confidence whatever is troubling you. The counselling relationship offers you time and space and is without judgment. Sometimes we just want somebody to talk to who is trained to listen, someone who is present and interested.
I have worked with adults and young people (16+) with a wide range of issues such as anxiety and relationship problems. I have also have experience with armed forces families, issues surrounding those who are self employed and men's issues.
My training in integrative, I adapt the therapeutic approaches to work with the person as a whole using Person Centred Theory, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I normally work face to face. However, we are living in unusual times. I currently offer remote counselling via the phone or via zoom.
My first session
In the first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling and a little about yourself. I will discuss with you how I work and the session usually lasts about half an hour. I like to think of it as a chance for you to dip your toe into the water of therapy.
