About me and my therapy practice
There are times in life that can feel complicated, difficult and too overwhelming to deal with on your own. You may be struggling with feelings of burnout, or a heaviness you’re not fully sure how to explain. Perhaps you’re noticing difficulties in your current relationships or are struggling with an ending such as separation or bereavement. Or maybe you have noticed yourself worrying more than usual and you are experiencing low mood or anxiety. It may be that you have recognised a specific issue that you would like to explore more or you may have experienced a trauma that you feel unable to move past and would like support to work through it.
The Coronavirus pandemic has had a profound impact on our collective mental health over the past two years and you may have noticed an impact on your wellbeing or your relationships. Perhaps it has caused you to think about life differently and feelings such as helplessness, loss, anxiety and change have left you struggling to make sense of it on your own.
Choosing a therapist can be difficult and I understand that starting therapy, particularly for the first time, can feel daunting. I believe that therapy should be collaborative and a process of working through something together to find positive changes that are right for you. Together we can look at your feelings or your current situation in a safe, confidential space and I will listen to you without judgement or criticism.
I have a particular interest in working with people who are struggling with anxiety or low mood and looking at how this impacts the body. I also have experience supporting people who have experienced childhood trauma and are struggling with the impact of this as an adult and how this may affect other relationships in life.
Please feel free to contact me via email, text or phone for further information.
I am a qualified and fully insured integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. This means that I am able to draw on a number of different therapeutic models and theoretical ideas to best suit your individual needs. As a relational therapist, the most important thing to me is providing you with a safe, non-judgemental space for you to share your experiences whilst feeling truly heard and understood; some clients find this space healing in itself and I hold the therapeutic relationship between you and I as the most important factor in our work together.
We will work together to understand your current feelings, relationship and situations alongside any patterns that might be getting in the way of how you would like it to be. We may consider past relationships and the impact of these on your thoughts, feelings or action and how you might find healthier ways to cope or learn new ways to navigate relationships.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone call/video call to clients before our first session together so we can think about what support you are looking for.
My fees are £45 for a 50 minute session and if you think we can work together, we can look to book an assessment session together at a time to suit us both. I will also send a therapy agreement to you for you to have a look through before we meet. The first session is a chance for me to understand more about your current situation and what you would like to work on. You are welcome to ask any questions you might have and there is no obligation for you to continue after the assessment session should you choose not to. The first session may take longer than the normal 50 minutes, however there will no extra charge for this.
