About me and my therapy practice

Hello, thank you for looking at my profile. My name is Katy Dickenson I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I believe we all have it within us to live our best life, to thrive and not simply survive. I am passionate about helping those who come to me for counselling to do just that. I work with people to help them over come their struggles. To help them to remove the obstacles that are holding them back. To help them see and understand themselves and their issues more clearly, to move forward and create lasting positive change.  I offer counselling online and via telephone across the UK. I also have spaces available for face to face counselling in Darwen Lancashire.

Practice description

As a person-centred counsellor I believe you know yourself, what you want and need better than anyone else ever could, you are your own expert. My role is to work collaboratively with you, providing a safe space where you can talk, explore and be heard respectfully with me offering insight, understanding and guidance around the challenges you are facing. Working together we will strive to make since of your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours which in turn will allow you to see yourself, the challenges you are facing more clearly and begin to make the changes you want to see in your life.

I recognise counselling is not a one size fits all. Everyone has different ways of learning, communicating and being. In being integrative I can offer you the skills and tools you need to create positive change in your life by bringing in theories and techniques that allow me to help you in a way that best suits you. giving you the tools to achieve the changes you desire. I have skills in CBT, Mindfulness, Solution focused therapy, Creative therapies, trauma therapy and much more.

My first session

If you choose to seek counselling with me we will arrange a free initial session face to face, via zoom or telephone to discuss what your needs are. This will help me to see if I am able to provide you with what you are looking for. Equally, through our conversation you will begin to see who I am and whether you would feel comfortable working with me.

If we decide to work together we will arrange a time and date for our first session that is suitable for you. Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually held on a weekly basis.
