About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, my name is Debbie. I am a Person-Centred Counsellor & Group Facilitator. I gained my Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Well-being, Counselling and Psychotherapy from Aberdeen University in 2019.

As well as my private practice I work part-time in the Violence Against Women and Girls sector and specialise in trauma-informed praxis. I work with a culturally diverse client base which has prompted a self-exploration of my own white privilege. I am dedicated to continuously educating myself and my aim is to build an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive way of being with an intersectional feminist approach. I work with people over the age of 18, I am an LGBTQ+ ally, and can offer concessional rates.

The core of my practice is grounded in empathy, genuineness, non-judgmentalism, and creativity. I aim to create a space for my clients where they will feel welcomed, safe, and able to bring their whole identity, which in turn will cultivate the conditions required for growth, change, and healing.

Being Person-Centred I take my own self-care seriously and engage in my own therapy, as well as peer support, and regular clinical supervision in line with BACP guidelines.

Out of working hours, I love art & design, architecture, listening to and playing music, and am a very willing companion to my feline friend who (full disclosure!) may make an appearance during our sessions together. I welcome your pets into the sessions too.

I am based in Edinburgh and Dunfermline.

Practice description

I offer both short and long-term therapy online following a free initial 30 minute consultation.

Each session is 50 minutes, on the same day and time every week, where possible.

My first session

I provide a free 30-minute consultation for us to explore working together and for both of us to decide whether we would be a good match. This time will allow you to ask any questions regarding my practice and for you to bring a brief overview of what you would like to work on, and what your needs and expectations of therapy are.
