About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative therapist drawing from the main models including psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT, and intercultural modalities in which I am trained.  I have gained vast experience working as a therapist in charitable, private,  Eap and NHS settings.

I have been an accredited member of the BACP since May 2009. and I am also fully insured to practice. Further details are available upon request.

I am very experienced in working with a range of clients in terms of their background, culture, faith, sexuality, race, ethnicity, status, and presenting issues.

My core is humanistic and I aim to work collaboratively placing my client at the centre of the work together we will work to explore your issues with a view to helping you to feel less burdened or troubled by your issue (s). This could be that you work towards change or acceptance with you remaining in control of your sessions.  Regular reviews are built into the sessions to check the impact of the treatment and to gain a sense of how it is being experienced and whether or not it is meeting your needs and/or expectations.

I offer what I hope will be a professional yet friendly and accepting stance and genuine interest in helping you to heal and to move forward from your difficulties.

Practice description

Standard sessions are for 50 mins and are normally offered weekly at the same time.

The first session is an assessment to gain a sense of your presenting issue, to ask any questions that you may have, and for me to provide information to you such as the contract, confidentiality and its limitations, and the circumstances in which it can be broken.

During the initial assessment, we would be looking to see if you feel that you can both be helped by me and more importantly that you feel able to work with me. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions and for us to gain a sense of how short or long you may wish your therapy to continue.

I will also be seeking your consent to the contract, to start therapy and to keep notes of our sessions.

My first session

The first session is an assessment session whereby I will be seeking your reasons for making the referral. I will also require your personal details including your GP contact and I will also discuss with you how I work, the contract and confidentiality and it's limitations for my records which are confidential.

Records are kept for 5 years as a legal requirement and a copy can be obtained by request in line with your rights under the GDPR rules please see below for further details:-

it is an opportunity for you to ask any questions to help you to decide if you wish to go ahead with therapy and at this point if you do decide we can then go ahead and arrange for you to start your therapy.
