About me and my therapy practice

I acknowledge this may be the first step you have taken to resolve the difficulty you may be experiencing. I hope coming onto the website is beginning to guide you to what help is available and what may work for you.

I believe passionately in the power of exploring our problems through talking therapy,  to bring about insight, healing and life changes for ourselves.  To work effectively, I offer to build a professional, empathic and confidential relationship with clients in order for them to process their pain, recognise what is causing it, and support them to move into new ways of living.

Practice description

I am an Integrative therapist, which means that I use a variety of Psychological approaches in my work.  This also means the work is always attuned individually to each client.

My training and practice is grounded in Psychodynamic psychology, which looks at how the impact of our history, plays out in our present living.  I also work using Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems and Compassion Focussed Therapy.  This can help us see past what is in our unconscious, reframe our understanding of ourselves, and move forward into new patterns of behaviours.

I work relationally, which means that I put the relationship between myself and each client at the centre of the work.  I endeavour to build a professional, warm, open and trusting relationship with clients.  It is the relationship we build together that is at the heart of our  work and facilitates the confidence and trust to be able to do the work.

Global research has concluded that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important part of therapy and the strongest indicator of the best outcomes of therapeutic work.

My first session

Please contact me for a free initial consultation.  This can be online, or by telephone.  We will talk through what has brought you to seek therapy.  The assessment we will do together is aimed at working out your needs and whether you feel comfortable that my approach will suit you.  Its an opportunity for me to gain an overview and how I feel I might be able to support you.  Please ask any questions you may have at this stage.  If you choose to proceed we will then agree details such as times and costs of sessions.

If you choose not to proceed, all data that you have given me will be deleted.
