About me and my therapy practice
Are you bogged down by the symptoms of anxiety? Are you sick of leading a life largely just trying to escape its effects? Plagued by worrisome or frightening thoughts? If any of these ring true to you then I believe I can help.
As well as being a qualified level 6 cognitive behavioural therapist, with 3 years of client experience, having enjoyed many years of study, I have also myself been a long term sufferer of generalised anxiety disorder.
However, having been raised by one parent with mental health issues and having an infrequent relationship with another parent who is by and large a contented person I became as much fascinated by how to change the relationship with our own anxieties in order to live the good life as with the placating of the symptoms of anxiety.
Which is what I do and offer as a therapist. On the one hand, we will get to know your own anxiety in the present in order to make small incremental changes to get you feeling better in the present, and on the other, we will try to understand the roots of your anxiety from the past in order to achieve both an understanding and an acceptance of it, which will help to change your relationship with it in order to gear you towards a clearer, contented and more exciting future, as you will develop a robustness from its effects.

I have worked with clients across the age range and, whilst I specialise in anxiety, I have also helped clients with a very wide range of issues, so regardless of whatever problem you are having it is worth contacting to see if what I have to offer can help you :)
I do both telephone and online psychotherapy at £30 per session.
I can take cash, card and bank transfer payments.
Sessions run for one hour.
This is normally a weekly process, especially early on into therapy, but may then switch to fortnightly or monthly depending on results before therapy concludes.

My first session
The first session will be a getting to know each other.
We will try to establish some goals or an agenda for therapy.
At your own pace, feel free to talk about whatever is on your mind. We will try to establish either what problems need to be solved, or which of your thoughts and/or feelings you would like to understand more about.
Towards the end of the session, I may give you a small task to do during the week. We will discuss what suits you, but it may be to note some thoughts down or to do a small activity.
At the end of the session, if you're happy to continue the process, then we can arrange a next session. Otherwise, you're free to go home and think about it first. Either way, feel free to contact me anytime.
