About me and my therapy practice

If you're becoming overwhelmed with the effects of anxiety, depression or a whole host of other problems then I believe I can help, by offering relief in the short term and effective change in the long term. I offer a safe space to talk about whatever is concerning you and we'll work together on whatever needs to be done. We can deal with any present issue and any underlying past emotional pain, by feeling out the emotion behind the problems and understanding what's behind the specific thoughts that are influencing problematic behaviour. We'll increase self awareness to understand the past and affect relevant changes for the future.

I'm a cognitive behavioural therapist. The cognitive element of the therapy is increasing self awareness of the automatic thoughts that are influencing daily problems and why they're in your mind in the first place. The behavioural element is the implementation of small changes to feel better, which can change the perception of the past to affect the future.

My past experience includes speaking to a wide range of age groups on varying issues. Regardless, this is a goal oriented type of therapy, even if you don't necessarily have a specific one at the start. The reason for this is so that we're both on the same wavelength throughout, so we both feel that the process is at least giving you small tangible results.

Practice description

I work at The Amethyst Centre, 88 Walsgrave Road, Coventry, CV2 4ED. It is £45 per session.

I also do home visits at £45 per session.

I also do both telephone and online psychotherapy at £25 per session.

I can take cash, card and bank transfer payments.

This is normally a weekly process, especially early on into therapy, but may then switch to fortnightly or monthly depending on results before therapy concludes.

For a free consultation or if you have any questions at all around any of this then please feel free to contact me on either 07474 736006 or benwardentherapy@gmail.com

My first session

The first session will be a getting to know each other.

We will try to establish some goals or an agenda for therapy.

At your own pace, feel free to talk about whatever is on your mind. We will try to establish either what problems need to be solved, or which of your thoughts and/or feelings you would like to understand more about.

Towards the end of the session, I may give you a small task to do during the week. We will discuss what suits you, but it may be to note some thoughts down or to do a small activity.

At the end of the session, if you're happy to continue the process, then we can arrange a next session. Otherwise, you're free to go home and think about it first. Either way, feel free to contact me anytime.
