About me and my therapy practice
Living a life feeling like we're mostly dropping in and out of suffering eventually catches us up. On my journey to becoming a therapist, I'd come to accept that I'd been doing this for the best part of the last thirty years. But for the last five years I've freed myself from the grip of these issues, feel so much better, freer and more confident. I've also come to understand that we can become way too adept at merely surviving life via an almost constant need to find the nearest source of distraction, especially when certain feelings are spiked. Now this isn't about losing these options, but it is about not being stuck with them.
Whilst this behaviour may feel natural as these coping mechanisms slowly become evermore habitual, these habits will incrementally catch up with and consume us, as our relationship with our own fears, whether or not they are apparent under any given or researched diagnosis, will further deteriorate. This means we become fearful, even in our own company.
If we are fearful in our own company, then we are fearful of life. Therefore anxiety and depression issues would be inevitable. Regardless of the scale of the problem, if anything I've put here speaks to you then I offer a safe space for us both to find understanding of what's causing this, achieve acceptance and change habits towards a brighter future.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face, phone and online therapy at £50 per session.
I can take cash, card and bank transfer payments.
Sessions run for 50-55 minutes.
This is normally a weekly process, especially early on into therapy, but may then switch to fortnightly or monthly depending on results before therapy concludes.
If you have any questions at all around any of this then please feel free to contact me.
My first session
The first session will be a getting to know each other.
We will try to establish some goals or an agenda for therapy.
At your own pace, feel free to talk about whatever is on your mind. We will try to establish either what problems need to be solved, or which of your thoughts and/or feelings you would like to understand more about.
Towards the end of the session, I may give you a small task to do during the week. We will discuss what suits you, but it may be to note some thoughts down or to do a small activity.
At the end of the session, if you're happy to continue the process, then we can arrange a next session. Otherwise, you're free to go home and think about it first. Either way, feel free to contact me anytime.
