About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is David Scott, and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association Counselling & Psychotherapy) and adhere to their code of ethics. I am an experienced counsellor and have a background in working with charities involved with drug use services. I also work as high school counsellor with students aged from 12 to 18.

First of all, a big hello and thank you for viewing my profile. There could be many reasons that you are thinking about counselling- you might have lost someone close to you, be struggling with your sexuality or gender, or maybe you don't know what is wrong, but sense something isn’t right. Counselling can be a way for you to explore these feelings, start to make sense of them and understand what they are trying to tell you. The aim of my practice is to create a space for you to do this.

I am experienced in working with both adults and children covering trauma, addiction, bereavement, relationship issues, anxiety and depression.

I hold the following qualifications:

Certified Cyber Therapist

Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy

CPCAB Level 4 Certificate in Counselling Children

Practice description

I work in a person-centred way that puts you and your process at the heart of everything. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space. I work at your pace, and I will be right beside you wherever you decide to go. I will accept you as you are and will help you find your own unique direction by helping you connect to your inner values, self-worth and strengths. I believe that you are the expert of yourself and with support will find the answers and self-understanding you are looking for.

I offer short term more focussed work or longer term depending on your needs.

I have experience in working with adolescents and the distinct challenges of this age group when their voices are often not heard.

I am studying the use of creative writing in therapy and if you are interested, we can use writing exercises in the work.

If you have any questions, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

My first session

At the first session we will explore what you would like from counselling, and I will answer any questions about counselling and my practice. This will allow you to decide if counselling is the right thing for you, and if you would like to work with me. If you want to go ahead, we can then agree a time that suits us both and the frequency and number of sessions. Generally, I recommend an hourly session each week with regular reviews, but I am happy to discuss other options.

I offer the first session at a reduced fee of £25.
