About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm and empathetic counsellor and believe the counselling relationship to be at the core of the work. The  counselling relationship provides the foundation for the therapeutic work to take place.

I believe my qualities as a therapist are paramount to the therapeutic process as i provide a holding, containing, safe and trusting relationship and i understand the challenges this work can bring.

Working together, you will gain a clearer sense of what is going on for you, to develop a deeper understanding and awareness, toward therapeutic growth, healing and change.

I have a wide range of therapeutic interests due to my background in health and social care. I have worked alongside adults with complex needs in a range of settings including: domestic abuse, offending, sex working, trafficking & modern day slavery, immigration and asylum, homelessness, health and disability, drug/alcohol services. Previous counselling roles include Bereavement Service, specialist women's service and specialist mental health service. This work has given me a sense of the fragility and complexity of life and how this can impact well being, emotional and mental health.

The work can be either short or longer term.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, accredited by the BACP and I am fully committed to ongoing professional development.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I fully adhere to code of ethics and professional conduct.

Areas of Interest

Practice description

Counselling is there for anyone seeking clarity and understanding, where maybe life has become difficult, challenging, unbearable even, with little explanation or understanding to hand, that life, work, relationships, self, family, at times, no longer makes sense. Particularly in todays current climate.

As your therapist, I can provide a space just for you, to explore your thoughts and feelings in a gentle and unhurried way where you would not be judged but fully accepted for who you are. The counselling process is a journey, and a process of self discovery, self reflection and freedom.

I can provide a sense of safety, a holding, containing space to begin to start to make sense of life and its complexities, a safe space to explore and to look at what might be going on for you. I can help you to process difficult and uncomfortable feelings that may at times feel unbearable. I can help you to be with those feelings, and together, to develop an understanding in order to make sense of what might be going on for you.

Whatever your reasons for choosing therapy at this time might be, maybe you have a clear idea of what brings you to therapy, possibly repeating patterns are resurfacing, cyclical patterns re emerging, and you would like an opportunity to explore what might be going on for you, all of which are welcome and form part of the counselling journey.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity to see how we connect and could work together collaboratively, you may have some reservations or fears in coming to therapy, possibly this is your first time or maybe you come with previous experience. All is welcome and potentially helpful to share. The first session is a chance for you to discuss what brings you to therapy and to outline how we may work together with potential time frames.

The first session will last 50 minutes and is charged at usual rate of £60.
