About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about my work and offer warmth, compassion, understanding and a safe, non-judgemental space in which to talk. I seek to make a difference for all who come to see me.
As a Counselling Psychologist I am trained to work in many approaches, or therapies including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Person Centred Therapy and Integrative Therapy. This means I can tailor my approach to suit you.
I am an Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registered Counselling Psychologist, a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I abide by their rigorous Codes of Ethics so you can be assured of the quality of my work.
Research has shown that the most important element predicting the successful outcome of therapy is the 'therapeutic relationship' and the importance of this is at the heart of my work.
My fee is £70 maximum to individuals, although I have no fixed charge - each individual client pays what they can reasonably afford - to make our service as accessible as possible.
I take BUPA referrals.
Types of Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Compassion Focused Therapy. I can integrate these approaches to best suit you.
My first session
Should you show an interest in having counselling through my practice we will send you a Registration Form, our Privacy Policy, a Client Contract, a Client Information Form and a CORE:OM. We will discuss these documents in our first session - including how much you can reasonably afford to pay. I will also ask you what you would most like to get out of therapy. What are your plans, hopes and dreams?
Appointments last for 50 minutes and, close to the end of our first one, I will ask if you would like to continue speaking with me. If you feel you would like this, and could benefit from our sessions together, the day and time of your first appointment will be the same, each week, for as long as you wish although currently, due to the length of our waiting list, we are limiting the amount of sessions we offer to each client to 20 sessions (where possible!)
