I work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - from 8am - 5pm.

Although I have a room available to rent in Stockbridge - for face to face work I mainly work from home so I am able to work with clients in both Andover and Winchester and, in fact, all over the country.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and welcome to my profile. I’m Fiona. You may recognize me from my years of working at the Andover Crisis and Support Centre – a refuge for women and women with children escaping domestic abuse. I managed a team of counsellors and our service was open to all members of the community – women, men, couples and young people from the age of 16

Are you looking for help to reduce stress or anxiety in your life?

Are you experiencing anger, low mood, the effects of trauma, abuse or loneliness?

Do you find your mind is full of racing or negative thoughts that seem impossible to switch off?

Would you like to improve your relationships?

Do you procrastinate – and would you like to stop?

The collaborative, non-judgmental and open relationship between a therapist and client is the key to successful therapy and facilitating change. Such a relationship with open and trusting communication - without fear of criticism – can bring about an improved sense of wellbeing. You can explore new ways of coping with difficult feelings and experiences in an empathic, confidential and supportive environment.

Practice description

Practice description

I adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP of which I am an Accredited Member. Your wellbeing is my highest priority.

In addition I am a Counselling Psychologist – registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council – and have 24 years experience. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society and the Hampshire Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I have worked as Head of Counselling in a women’s refuge for 24 years – where our Counselling Service was open to the community. I have worked with men and women of all ages -from 18 upwards. Now I am beginning my own private practice – working from home.

What I can help with

The issues I work with are many, varied and include: abuse, anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, emotional eating, relationship problems, self-harm grief, loss, stress, being stuck, work-related issues, procrastination, redundancy, lack of self-worth or confidence and trauma - which is one of my areas of special interest. I am passionate about making a difference.

The types of therapy I can offer include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Person Centred Therapy

Currently I am offering telephone and zoom counselling only to minimize the risk of contracting or passing on COVID. With this in mind I would send all the necessary paperwork to you by email - which I would ask you to complete and return before our first session.

My first session

It is my hope that you will leave our first session feeling glad that you made this courageous and significant step on your counselling journey.

We will also talk through the contract and I will look to find out more about you – your support system, your interests, how your problem is affecting you and what it was that led to you deciding you would like to try counselling. Confidentiality and safeguarding are key topics in our first session too. Together we will look at the CORE: OM form I will have sent you – which will give us some information into how you have been feeling over the last week. If there are elements of risk we will discuss this first. We may review the CORE:OM form every 6-8 weeks so we can see progression – or where a particular issue for you needs to be addressed further.
