About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. I value honesty, connection, choice, and integrity. I aim to make therapy as simple, transparent and effective as possible. I work with warmth and sensitivity, so you are seen and heard on a deep level. I am not afraid of feeling fear or sadness or being stuck in a dark place. I cannot ‘fix’ you, and I won’t know all the answers to your questions, but my love of my work, 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist, and my investment in helping my clients, helps me to ask some pretty useful questions. I believe that I can empower you to discover your own answers, to develop strength and emotional resilience, and to create lasting change.
I’ve found every client to be unique. I will therefore collaboratively agree on an individual plan for your therapy, and tailor my approach to meet your needs. For example, focussing more or less on: specific current issues or in-depth exploration of how early relationships impact current issues, symptom reduction, using diagrams to explore and clarify, mindfulness, body based regulation and trauma work, behavioural approaches to stabilise symptoms, working with metaphor, images and imagination to deepen self-expression, self-understanding and to see new ways to move forward and create change.
I have a Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Art Therapy and a Master’s degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. I’ve worked in the NHS and private sector with both inpatients and outpatients, with eating disorders, in palliative care and in schools. I am a registered BACP psychotherapist, HCPC registered and a BAAT member.
My work is informed by Gestalt and Psychodynamic approaches, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Attachment Theory, neurobiology, trauma theory, mindfulness and the Feldenkrais method.
I have specialist experience in working with eating disorders and a particular interest in trauma and disassociation.
