About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Psychotherapist with several thousand clinical hours of experience working with individuals, couples, families and Groups. I started my clinical practice in Feb 2009 and gained my Transactional Analysis Post-grad Diploma in Psychotherapy in 2011; my BACP Accredited status in 2014; became qualified as a Certified Transactional Analyst and registered as a UKCP endorsed Psychotherapist in 2016; gained my MSc in Psychotherapy (from Middlesex University) in 2017 and my endorsement as a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in Berlin in August 2017. I train and supervise other counsellors and therapists in two TA Training Institutes (Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy & Physis Scotland in Edinburgh).

My previous career was in Corporate IT Sales and my first degree was in Marketing. I had a knack for coaching and mentoring others and I knew I wanted to discover more about myself and what made me tick. I was interested in how I could improve my life through psychological self-awareness. My own therapy has been life-changing and I have not yet worked with a client for a longer period than I have myself been in therapy. I have worked through many personal experiences from my past that were affecting me negatively in the present – one example is my adoption and how this was affecting my relationships and sense of security and self-esteem. I am married with 3 children and a Border Collie who keeps us active.

You will find me to be empathic and fully-committed to supporting you to achieve the changes you will come to therapy to effect. My Private Practice is welcoming and calming. You can opt to work with me on a short-term or long-term basis. I have slots available to join a Therapy Group – which is the most cost-effective way of getting therapy from me.

Come meet me and book an initial 30-minute session on my website at www.susiehewitt.co.uk. I look forward to welcoming you!

Practice description

I work with individuals, couples, families and psychotherapy groups in my Private Practice.

My therapy room is a bright and airy space with two large 4 seater sofas and a chair and a large bay window stretching across one wall.  I offer refreshments including water, tea, freshly ground coffee (all decaffeinated), and various herbal teas.

There is a small WC just outside my therapy room for your convenience, and plenty of parking along the road outside.

I offer a 60 minute session (rather than the 50 minute session many others offer).

My first session

I recommend you initially book a 30 minute assessment with me (through my web-booking system) at the cost of £36.

This gives us both a chance to see if we are the right fit for one another.  It maybe that my approach doesn't suit, and rest assured that this will cause no offense if you would prefer to try someone else instead following our assessment.

We would usually spend the time talking about what changes you want to make during your therapy journey, and I will explain how I can help you achieve these goals.  If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

If you wish to proceed with further sessions, again you would book these through my online booking system on my website.

About me and my therapy practice

A UKCP Registered Supervisor; a Primary Course Tutor in Transactional Analysis and a Psychotherapist since 2009, my supervision philosophy is threefold:-

- to enhance the counsellor/therapist's understanding of their relationship with the client (through a mutual understanding of transference and counter-transference phenomena and also parallel process)

- to support the counsellor/therapist in working ethically

- to support the professional development of the counsellor/therapist through: CPD/Career Progression/Personal Development/& where necessary, their own counselling and personal therapy

Practice description

I work in a bright and airy room with two large 4 seater leather sofas and a standalone chair.  There is a large bay window across one side of the room and two large bookshelves along the other.

I offer refreshments in the form of water, decaf tea and freshly ground coffee, plus various herbal teas.

There is a small WC just outside my work room for your convenience, and there is plenty of parking outside along the road.

My first session

I recommend you book a 30 minute assessment session when considering starting your clinical supervision with me.  That way you get to experience my approach and whether you feel we click.

Whether you work in the NHS, or another organisational setting, or in Private Practice - you will find me a qualified, experienced and ethical supervisor.  I already offer independent clinical supervision for many organisations who require their therapists to have more than the managerial supervision which is provided in house.

I teach and run CPD training in Setting Up in Private Practice and have a wealth of experience in how to setup, gain clients and referral pipelines, and maximise technology to allow you more time working clinically and less time working with admin.
