About me and my therapy practice

Relationships however they are made up & whatever they look like can cause confusion at some point. Perhaps you feel Lost or Stuck with your emotions? Are you experiencing feelings right now that are overwhelming, or maybe it feels too difficult to talk to anyone right now. Maybe these feelings been ignited by a past trauma or event in your life which have been triggered by a recent event. You are not alone and do not need to feel that you are.

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and passionate about  providing a calm, honest and non-judgemental therapeutic space.  I help and support couples, families & individuals through a wide range of issues to achieve a stronger sense of self and greater self-worth.

As well as working privately I have volunteered within a local organisation supporting those experiencing Loss, Grief and Bereavement. Previously I have volunteered in Agencies giving support to those experiencing  substance addiction specifically drugs and alcohol.

There are many reasons for accessing therapy and it is well understood that this can be a  daunting process. Reading this means you have taken the first step towards finding a Counsellor.

Being a Person-Centred Counsellor means that our sessions are focused on you. We will work collaboratively to find a pace that is comfortable for you. This allows for a free and open conversation. I  am none directive & will not tell you what to do as I believe my clients know best about what they want from their therapy.

Are you seeking a safe space as a couple but unsure where or how to begin. I offer an initial session, if you decide i am the right person for you we can discuss how as a couple you would like your sessions to progress.

My hope would be that you feel safe enough to unpack your feelings and concerns; increase your self awareness and to move towards and reach your fullest potential.

The curious paradox is that

when I accept myself just as I am,

then I can change”

About me and my therapy practice

I started life working with young people where I gained extensive experience of child development, as well as understanding many of the problems facing young people today. Later in life I worked with older people presenting with a variety of mental health issues which include addictions, dependency, loss, and bereavement.

Today I work not only with individuals but also couples. I recognise that relationships can be complex and as such often bring issues that can be difficult to navigate around. In therapy i offer a safe and none judgemental space where everyone has the opportunity not only to speak but also to be heard.

Choosing this profession was not a difficult decision for me as it was my own positive and personal experience as a client that led me to train as a person-centred therapist. I am passionate in my belief that everyone has the right to be their true selves, but I realise that on occasions this part of us becomes buried. Mostly we can manage life’s daily challenges, but I understand it can be difficult when we feel overwhelmed.

It’s important to choose a therapist who offers a non-judgemental and confidential space where you feel safe to unpack and explore emotions. Within my practice our therapeutic relationship will provide you with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.

Working together I can help you understand your thoughts and experiences better and so aid you in your personal growth and development.

As a person-centred therapist in today’s climate, I believe it is important to support those who otherwise would not have access to therapy. So, as well as my private practice I continue to volunteer within a local organisation offering bereavement support. Previous volunteer work has included working with those who have either a substance and or alcohol addiction
