About me and my therapy practice
Compassionate BACP registered counsellor who has provided counselling to over a thousand clients with varying mental health issues. Humanistic practitioner adhering to the person-centred experiential therapeutic model (CfD). Experienced in IAPT, Voluntary and Private practice settings. My practice is relational in nature and therefore focuses on the person (you) and is structured towards the client driving the therapeutic process. This approach helps empower each individual client leading to longer lasting and more affective change.
Basically - You talk, I guide, you find your own answers, I check in with you to make sure change is taking place for you, you resolve what you need. If this is not happening we can review why and find solutions.

Founder of Person-Centred Counselling Carl Rogers states - Therapy is basically the experiencing of inadequacies in old ways of perceiving, the experiencing of new and adequate perceptions, and the recognition of significant relationships between perceptions.
What this means - When you come to counselling you will be trying to find answers to whatever your problems may be, the reason why you want counselling is because you cannot understand what is going on for you, or what has happened to you. In counselling you can explore everything that is going on for you, it is a safe/confidential space in which to do so. You will start to find your own answers to things the more you are allowed to talk about them and explore them. I will guide you through this process. Once you feel that you have found your own answers, understand what happened, or can see the type of person you are in relation to the issues in your life, counselling can end. This process is totally dependant on each individual. Some people can have 1 session and find resolution, some might need 100 sessions, each individual is completely different so sessions are dependant on you and there is no one way to do counselling.

First sessions are for me and you to figure out what might be the problem/issue and to see if we can work together in resolving them.
I will explain what counselling is and isn't, how I work and if we can/can't, work together.
Like any first meeting with another person it is hard to fully grasp the extent of things, but we can work on this throughout the counselling process. First sessions are for both of us to decided if we want to engage in the counselling process together. It might be that you have already decided what you need so we can just start counselling, if I can work with what you bring. Listed below are issues I have had success in working with.
