About me and my therapy practice

There are periods in life when we can all experience anxiety, depression, anger and loss. These feelings can be overwhelming and it is at these times that it can be beneficial to have the input and support of someone who is impartial and non-judgmental, someone who is not family or friend, yet has your best interests at heart.

My name is Jean. I am an MBACP accredited integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I believe it is very important that each client I support should feel secure and free to express themselves in a way that suits their own unique personality and communication style. It is because of this that I offer a range of therapeutic models and techniques; from the traditional to the more creative, that are tailored to each specific need. It is in this atmosphere that each client is given opportunities to find their own solutions, set goals and regain an increased sense of self-worth, self-confidence and inner strength.

I have worked in a Secondary School since 2006, so I am aware of the struggles facing young adults today in this results driven environment, where anxiety and stress can be difficult to manage without the support of someone who understands the challenges this brings.

I also work as an NHS counsellor and have a private practice. In these roles I have had the privilege of supporting clients of different ages, backgrounds, and faiths, with a wide range of counselling needs.

Practice description

I prefer to conduct my counselling sessions face-to-face. However, some of my clients occasionally require online sessions due to their tight work schedules. I do my best to offer these clients sessions via Zoom or WhatsApp face-time at these times

Each counselling session is 50 minutes long.

My first session

Because I appreciate how daunting it can be to meet a stranger and share your deepest thoughts, I offer an introductory session at a reduced price. I feel this puts my client first by giving them an opportunity to experience a positive start to the therapeutic relationship and to gauge how well they feel we could work together.

This first session also enables me to carry out a number of clinical and non-clinical assessments which help to identify the client's current mental wellbeing status and priorities the client's areas of need.
