About me and my therapy practice
We all experience difficulties in our lives, often made worse by the ideas, assumptions and beliefs we hold about ourselves, other people, relationships, and life in general, which inform how we think, feel and behave. Most often we are unaware of these ideas, and so they go unchallenged, meaning that if unhelpful, we may find ourselves living in a way which causes pain and suffering. Together, we'll work to gain awareness of these assumptions, in order to examine their accuracy and usefulness, so that healthier and more realistic ways of viewing yourself and the world can be explored. This will help you to lead a happier and more fulfilling and satisfying life.
I work in a collaborative way to ensure a safe and trusting relationship, working together to understand your difficulties, their meaning for you and their impact on your life, as well as deciding what you want from counselling and therapy. I believe in the importance of the relationship between therapist and client, and in finding a way of working that is suited to your individual needs and personal style. I believe it is important to establish and develop a strong working relationship in which you feel as comfortable as possible to share your difficult thoughts and feelings. I provide Transactional Analysis (TA) counselling and psychotherapy to help you through a range of difficulties in order to work through your suffering and make change in your life.
I am a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in TA Psychotherapeutic Counselling (in TA training as a transactional analyst), and a member of the BACP. I work on a short and long-term basis with individuals and couples at the Awareness Centre in Tooting, London SW17.
