About me and my therapy practice

My practise is psychodynamic.

I supervise trained counsellors, those in training as well as health practitioners who use counselling skills.

I am interested in supervising both long term and short term focused work and have expertise in couples work.

Practice description

My original training was with Relate 1982 -84 as a couples counsellor where I worked for 6 years offering counselling and educational group work.  I continued training at British Association of Psychotherapy, Westminster Pastoral foundation and Essex University, had 3 times a week therapy with an analyst and done a 2 year baby observation.

I became an accredited counsellor with BACP in 1991 and a supervisor in 1998.

Over the years I have worked in NHS, voluntary sector, as well as private practise.

I have written poetry for 20 years and started making art in 2006.  These activities compliment and enhance the creative endeavour of my therapy practice.  My main focus is working with the unconscious and my practice is bedded in Psychoanalysis.

The challenges of everyday life, if met with curiosity, open minded ness and a preparedness to drop down into the unknown I find deeply rewarding.  I still enjoy my work and the continuous learning it offers.   It is not easy work but it is hugely rewarding.

My first session

I meet with prospective patient and supervisees for an initial session of 90 minutes to establish whether we get along and what I offer is in line with their needs.    My fee for this session is the same as that for any on going work.
