About me and my therapy practice

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious and stressed then we should talk, I'm a counsellor and outdoor therapist who works a lot with people like you.

  • Do you doubt yourself all the time?
  • Find yourself on edge but don’t know why?
  • Worry about things that haven’t happened?
  • Think over and over about stuff that’s in the past?
  • Just don’t think you’re good enough?

I’m here to help you work through these feelings and become less anxious, more confident and more content. Worry, panic attacks, stress, imposter syndrome, shame and guilt come up a lot with my clients and you're not alone, these feelings are common. I want to help you understand yourself better, identify your needs and be able to communicate them so that life becomes that much calmer for you.

Whether you’ve got a formal diagnosis, or social anxiety, or are just fed up of feeling like this we’ll work together to try and make sense of your feelings and experiences. We’ll find ways for you increase your confidence, understand yourself better and be kinder to yourself.

As well as traditional weekly or fortnightly sessions I also offer one off outdoor focus sessions. A longer session that can be a place for you to offload, space to brain dump, time to explore and be listened to and heard and for us to draw out important strands and areas of focus.

As well as anxiety I work with clients on their depression, grief, isolation, relationship breakdowns, work problems, family illness, ill health, stress, bereavement & chronic pain.

Give me a call and let’s see how I can help you. I know reaching out to a counsellor can be a scary step if you’re already feeling anxious and overwhelmed so if it’s easier you can email me.

Practice description

Ecotherapy/Outdoor/Nature therapy/Walk and Talk is my passion – walking in a park or wood whilst we work as you might find that it’s easier to talk whilst we’re walking, and feel less pressured than working indoors. I mostly offer walk and walk, ecotherapy and nature based therapy. If you find the thought of sitting inside across a room with someone a bit overwhelming this can be a great alternative. There's lots of research about how being outdoors has a positive impact on our mental health, and working outside builds on this.

I also offer single sessions (outdoor focus sessions) which are appointments which are usually longer than a normal appointment and are an opportunity to get things off your chest, whilst also looking at understanding yourself better in a very focussed way.

I love working with fellow practitioners and often work with counselling students from local colleges needing therapy as part of their studies.

Whatever you prefer it’s up to you, but drop me an email, or give me a call and let's see how we might work together.

My first session

Before our first session we will usually have had a quick free phone call to introduce ourselves and to make sure you feel comfortable speaking to me before we make the appointment. I understand that anxiety sometimes makes it hard to make phone calls so if you prefer to communicate by email that's fine too.

Our first meeting will be online, and will be a 50 minute session. To start with I'll take you through a few important things about how we'll work together, including my limits to confidentiality. I know that no-one comes to counselling to talk about contracts and payments etc, so I'll make it swift but it's also important that you understand the boundaries between us.

From then it's over to you and I'll usually ask something like "tell me about why you decided you wanted to see a counsellor". Our conversation will go from there, we'll take some time to look at what you want to get out of counselling and talk about plans as to how therapy might work between us. At the end of the session we'll have a chat about what the plans for future work are and agree more session dates. If you decide to work outdoors we'll make arrangements as to where to meet.

As well as traditional regular counselling I offer single session therapy. If you want to book one of those we'll have a quick 15 minute free online chat beforehand.

About me and my therapy practice

The foundation of my supervision practice is based on a simple premise – I’m going to offer you space. The work we do as practitioners is hard, I’m offering to hear you. Beyond that of course is a lot more, I will offer a space which is..

  • Collaborative
  • Reflective
  • Expressive
  • Restorative
  • Inquisitive

Supervision with me is about replenishing your resources and honouring the work that you do as well as providing a space for ethical decision making and looking at your development and meeting your professional needs. I’m a person centred therapist but welcome working with others from different therapeutic perspectives.

The experience that I bring with me is varied – including private practice, third sector and charity work. I’ve also experience of being self employed, both in private work and in my previous career. In particular I’ve worked with clients outside for a number of years, offering outdoor therapy / ecotherapy / walk and talk and am passionate about this area of practice.

Practice description

I’m based in Shropshire and have access to a private woodland space for supervision. Alternatively we can work online, using various platforms. I don’t currently work face to face indoors.

As well as traditional monthly or fortnightly sessions I’m happy to work on a more infrequent basis or even ad-hoc or one-off sessions. For example if you’re looking to examine elements around outdoor therapy or need a session whilst your regular supervisor is away just get in touch.

I work only with those working with adults, and at present am not taking on any trainees.

My first session

For regular supervision to start with we'll have a free brief phone call or online meeting so you can outline your needs and wants from a supervisor and to make sure that we're compatible!

From there if you decide to go ahead we will look at working face to face outdoors or online and get some sessions booked, whether that's fortnightly or monthly.

If you're after one off ad-hoc supervision then get in touch and we have a few options available depending on what you need
