About me and my therapy practice

I'm an experienced person-centred and humanistic counsellor and supervisor. I'm here to offer a safe, supportive space, where together, we can build a trusting relationship and talk about the issues that bring you to counselling.

I have been counselling clients since 2009 in a wide range of settings, including for the YMCA with students in a secondary school, for the NHS in a midwife-led service and I also worked as a specialist mental health mentor for students at the University of Sussex for 3 years.

In addition to my private practice, I work as a counsellor for Survivor's Network.

I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation by phone where you can find out a bit more about me, how I work and we can decide if I'm the right counsellor for you.

I also offer supervision to counsellors. I'm experienced in both long-term and short-term work, solutions focussed work and of working with trauma and in an educational setting with students (18 years old and over). Please get in touch if you'd like to know more about how I work as a supervisor.

I have an ACTO approved certificate in online and telephone counselling.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision is an integral part of working ethically and effectively as a counsellor. I believe in creating a safe, supportive supervisory environment where counsellors can explore and develop their practice.

Practice description

I've been a counsellor since 2009 and I qualified as a supervisor in 2018.  I'm passionate about providing a safe and collaborative space to explore your work and development as a counsellor. My aim's are that supervision be a place of support, learning, growth and challenge, where all of your work can be brought and reflected on.

In my supervision practice I work from a person-centred and humanistic perspective and the models I draw on include TA, gestalt, existential and focussing.

The 3 main functions of supervision can be broken down into;

The Formative - the educational aspect where we develop our skills and knowledge.

The Normative - looking at the managerial, administrative aspects of counselling work and the quality assurance and ethical practice.

The Restorative - where we focus on support, facilitating growth of awareness and self-care.

When all 3 are present in the supervision relationship, this promotes both the wellbeing and professional development of the counsellor and the welfare of clients.

I'm an accredited and registered member of the BACP and have specific training and experience in working with trauma and survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse. I'm experienced in both long-term and short-term, solutions focussed work and of working in an educational setting with students (18 years old and over). I offer supervision to those who work with over 18's and I also offer working creatively.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to know more about how I work and what I offer.
