About me and my therapy practice
I work mainly using a person centred approach, but also draw from other ways of working to suit individual needs.
I strongly believe that individuals will thrive and flourish if given the correct environment in which do so; my aim is to provide that environment, to help you better understand yourself and to find your inner strength, resiliance and peace of mind in doing so.
I have many qualifications, including three at degree level. In the most recent years I have gained an FdSc degree in person centred counselling from Worcester University (Hereford). A recognised qualification in remote counselling (telephone, video link, etc.). Personal development is ongoing and the most recent courses include children and young adults, bereavement, suicide, remote counselling anf therapy.
As a qualified counsellor and, as a fully registered member, I am bound by the ethical guidelines for the BACP professional body.
Working in the private mental health sector since the 1980's and having experience of helping many young people, adults and the elderly with mental health and mental disability issues that effect their well being and lives; I truly believe that taking care of our mental health is very important and something that everyone can and should benefit from.
My first session
The first session is very important. It enables both the therapist and the client to explore the future working relationship. This is the time that issues and ways of working can be explored and decided upon, plus decisions made on the suitability or match between counsellor and client and the suitability of therapy. The first session rarely goes into real depth on any issues but rather sets a full and detailed understanding of how future sessions will progress and starts the relationship between therapist and client.
My fees are based on £40 for a 50 minute session. Concessions are available for students, care workers etc. Please contact my by email in the first instance leaving a telephone number if possible.
