About me and my therapy practice
My focus is on my clients’ experience, your world, and establishing a quality of relationship that can enable change through effectively listening and respecting past and present experiences. My primary focus is you, to effectively listen to your experiences with positive regard, empathy, compassion and without judgement.
Life can leave you feeling many different thoughts and feelings, anything from amazing to awful, and sometimes we need support to make sense of our lives, experiences and emotions. They say "a problem shared is a problem halved" and getting things off your chest confidentially and safely with a therapist can help. Even at the best and worst times of our lives, we need a caring, empathic and compassionate other to listen and share our experiences with, to feel we are loved and belong. Therapy allows you the space to determine what's best for you, despite limitations, to thrive, to accept yourself and become who you are meant to be.
I offer a safe and confidential space for face to face, or online, for you to explore and resolve difficulties at your own pace, to effect change, however small or large that may be, to enhance your wellbeing and relationships. I am an 'integrative' psychotherapist which means I draw on, and blend, different techniques and models of psychotherapy namely person centred and humanistic. This means that my primary focus is you, to effectively listen to your experiences with positive regard, empathy, compassion and without judgement.
I can help with a broad range of issues such as trauma, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, depression, stress, loss, grief, bereavement, workplace wellbeing issues, gender and sexuality. I respect uniqueness, that we are all fabulously different and that the reparative nature of therapy supports and encourages us to be our true selves. I warmly welcome the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and LGBTQ+ communities.
My first session
I offer an initial complimentary consultation up to 60 minutes where we can decide if, and for how long, we wish to work together. During the consultation we will agree a regular hour and day of the week to meet face to face or online. This time will then be reserved for you each week and will not available to any other client. After six weeks we will review our work together and make agreement to continue on an open-ended basis, or work towards a suitable end date with consideration to onward support/referrals.
