About me and my therapy practiceMany people find the idea of seeking therapy daunting. It can be difficult revealing one’s inner fears and anxieties to someone who is, initially, a stranger. However, if you can take that first step, you will be able to explore and begin to resolve your problems in a caring, supportive, non-critical environment. There are many reasons why people seek therapy. It could be the death of a loved one or the breakdown of a relationship. It could be a work-related issue, such as being bullied or being unfairly treated. You may suffer from panic attacks, compulsions or generalised anxiety, or be suffering low-level depression and lack of focus in your life. You may also be experiencing feelings of anger, guilt or shame, which can be damaging to both yourself and to your loved ones.
Whatever brings you to therapy, and whether it is a short-term crisis or whether there are deeper problems, my approach is one based on a relationship of trust between therapist and client. As a therapist my role is first to help you to come to a clear understanding of the nature of your problem and then to help you to achieve an outcome that is right for you. I hold an MA in Counselling and I have extensive experience both in private practice and within the voluntary sector. I am also DBS-checked (Disclosure and Barring Service) and fully insured. I value diversity and equality, and I welcome clients regardless of age, gender, sexuality, disability, race, creed or culture.
