About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Julia. I am a qualified counsellor based in a private practice in Chester city centre. I provide a private, confidential counselling service in a welcoming and friendly environment in which your individuality and beliefs are respected. I understand that coming for counselling may feel daunting and I hope to do all I can to reassure you that I will listen to you without judgement and that the sessions will be set at a pace that is right for you.
My approach to counselling is predominantly person-centred but I am also able to offer a cognitive behavioural approach. I aim to provide a safe and welcoming space in which you can explore issues in your life with which you are currently experiencing difficulty. Working together I hope to support you to explore life experiences and relationships which may help you to see things more clearly, enabling you to move forward and initiate positive change.
Training, qualifications & experience
I attended an accredited course at the University of Chester, obtaining a Masters in Clinical Counselling in 2014 and subsequently a Masters in Psychology in 2015.

Foundation in CBT
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS) and am currently undertaking a PhD in Psychology at the University of Chester.
I have worked with clients with a range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, grief, and abuse, trauma and problematic and hazardous alcohol and drug use.
