About me and my therapy practice

I have been in Private Practice for over 25 years, working with all age groups, either as individuals, couples or families. My training is grounded in an Integrative style where what you need from therapy guides the content rather than a fixed approach. Throughout my career I have worked with a plethora of day to day struggles life can present us with. There are times when we just need someone to really hear what we are saying, or struggling to say, to help us find a way through what is troubling us. My approach is to have you firmly in the driving seat and I am there as a trusted navigator to get you to a more desirable destination without feeling lost and to arrive with a clear purpose and meaning. Rarely in our lives do we get quality time to just focus on our needs and yet, when we do, it can be very liberating and empowering.

I have a specialism in Eating Disorders (ED), which also extends into disordered chaotic eating and the way we feel about our body, food, weight and shape. I have also delivered training in EDs.  These disorders are often associated with underlying fear,  anxiety and very strong belief systems.

My experience extends to mediation between e.g. family members; siblings jointly dealing with parental challenges; friends and/or colleagues with a willingness to 'move beyond' specific issues.

I currently offer therapy / counselling online using video conferencing e.g. Zoom and Skype.  This has proven to be an adaptable,  highly flexible and supportive approach.

Practice description

My support is open to anyone who needs a personal space to explore their thoughts and feelings, without feeling negatively judged, even if those are in conflict or unclear.  We will carefully unscramble them together. There are no prerequisites, just the willingness and courage to talk about things.  I will try to make your experience nurturing and affirming.  Furthermore, for any person dealing with sexual orientation or transgender identity or related issues, my desire is for your therapeutic experience to be transformative and empowering, thus enabling you to authentically thrive in how you self-identify.

My first session

My fees also apply to initial sessions where I help you to identify or further clarify what you need from therapy.  I am also conscious that by the time someone takes the courageous step to ask for support, that they are keen to move forward and 'take something away' from the initial session.
