About me and my therapy practice
Whilst working as a registered general nurse I often found, when looking after people going through life-altering experiences, that the emotional and psychological support that was needed at times appeared more relevant and helpful than the physical care provided. This led me to complete a degree in psychology, after a health setback meant that I was no longer able to work as a nurse, and I went on to study and work in the field of substance misuse and recovery. I've since gained a level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Certificate in Couple Counselling, and was until recently a member of the clinical team at ARC, the community counselling service linked to Axminster Medical Practice.
I offer counselling to all adults, including couples, without distinction. I have particular familiarity supporting people who are in caring roles, who are experiencing dementia in a loved one, who are in recovery from substance misuse, and also of Asperger’s syndrome.
My approach to counselling is integrative, tailored to each and every individual, so as to allow flexibility and thus cater for all forms of the human experience.
I appreciate the capacity for fulfilment as well as the dignity and worth inherent within every person. I explore the struggles and challenges of every person I work with as a natural part of our human existence.
I feel privileged to be able to offer my support to you as a counsellor. Always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure our relationship is to the utmost benefit to us both, I am committed to working together with you in providing the best possible outcome to your counselling journey.
I work from my home in Whimple, in a situation that is easily accessible, peaceful and welcoming. I offer sessions in my therapy room, or should the weather suit, sitting in my garden, which is surrounded by open fields.
