About me and my therapy practice
If you are looking for a therapist, you’ve probably already tried to work things through by yourself – but the worry, distress or unhappiness remains. That’s when psychotherapy can help. I can offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk. I believe in the value of feeling heard and understood, and that talking to a trained therapist can make a genuine difference to a person's life.
I understand relationships can be complex, work stressful, and life full of challenges, especially when punctuated by episodes of loss and trauma. I believe psychotherapy can:
- provide deeper insight into what it is you are going through
- process and reframe negative experiences
- bring to light patterns of thought and behaviour
- clarify the connection between your past and present
- open up new possibilities for living
I run my private practice alongside my ongoing NHS work. I have previously worked at a busy NHS GP practice, one of the UK’s largest hospices and a private practice in Mayfair.
I bring the same open-minded attitude to everyone I meet. I am a warm, compassionate and thoughtful therapist. My style is conversational and I welcome feedback from clients about how they experience our work together. I regularly review sessions to encourage a collaborative process that is directed by each client's needs and priorities.
My first session
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming: everyone’s face staring back at you in the ‘find a therapist’ directories. And so many schools of thought to consider. I often recommend chatting to a few therapists to see who feels right for you. All the evidence suggests that the outcome of therapy is more influenced by the quality of your relationship with your therapist than by their theoretical approach. That's why I offer anyone interested in therapy with me, a no obligation free telephone consultation. It is a chance for you to see how we might work together, for me to learn about what brings you to therapy, and for you to ask any questions you may have. If you then decide to book a session, we can arrange that and take it from there.
