About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Deborah - welcome. Thank you for taking the time to look at my listing to allow me the opportunity to introduce myself. My practice offers a compassion and trauma focussed safe space for us to work together. You are the expert of you and as another human being sitting beside you, we can work through whatever brings you to therapy together, exploring what may be causing your here and now difficulties/distress. We will work collaboratively - with the work we do specifically tailored to you and your therapy goals.
We are so often limited by thinking habits/beliefs which can cause distress, anxiety and low mood/depression. Therapy can encourage your own resourcefulness and wisdom and break unhelpful patterns/vicious cycles.
Practice description
About me and my practice - I am a fully qualified counselling psychotherapist having completed a CBT Diploma in Counselling and Group Work, and the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills. As well as being a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am trained to work with clients virtually and I am a member of ACTO - Association for Counselling and Therapy Online.
In therapy, what we add to our toolbox as either client or therapist provides a wider range of helpful techniques. I am also a qualified Havening Techniques® Practitioner and can offer this as either a standalone therapy or I may suggest we can incorporate one or more of the techniques if you as client and myself as therapist consider this would be of benefit as we move through your therapy sessions.
I can help with anxiety disorders, low mood/depression, low self-esteem, stress, panic attacks, grief, traumatic/stressful life events, addictions, unhelpful thinking habits, confidence to move forward and relaxation. We would work collaboratively as a team on what you bring to therapy in a compassion informed way.
My first session
We can have an initial free 20 minute telephone chat to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy. This helps us to establish if I would be a suitable therapist for you. We can also use this time to discuss any questions you may have. This can also be undertaken by email if you prefer.
During our first 50 minute session, we will have space to look further at the issues you wish to explore, your goals for therapy as well as undertake some paperwork including the therapy contract.
Sessions are paid by bank transfer the day before each session.
