About me and my therapy practice
I'm now offering sessions on skype and zoom at a reduced fee to help in these uncertain times. I welcome clients looking for longterm work or who need help dealing with current issues.
I’m an experienced therapist and registered member of BACP. My therapy room is in West Bridgford, within easy reach of Nottingham city centre, with free on-street parking, and stops for several main bus routes within easy walking distance.
Considering a talking therapy is a very important step for personal wellbeing. Many people hesitate, thinking it’s only for ‘more serious cases’. Most people at some point in their lives will experience the kind of distress that can be helped by therapy.
We are complex beings, playing different roles through life and meeting many challenges. We all notice recurring patterns of behaviour, relationship style, unwanted feelings, and situations that don’t make us happy - feeling stuck in these patterns can lead to a depressed state of life. Life changes can be particularly tricky, whether it’s a new house or job, parenthood or divorce, ‘empty nest’ or retirement. Sometimes we need help to get through the journey of adapting to loss and change.
Many of us become experts at supplanting our own feelings with what we think we ought to feel.
The relationship with a therapist supports the exploration of our experiences, offering empathy and professional insight without the expectations placed on us by family and friends. Taking time for ourselves to find the source of suffering and inner conflict can give us the insight to meet life in a way that is best for us.
Some people choose to explore current issues for a short number of sessions. Others choose to go deeper. The client is in control of this decision. The first step is to book an initial consultation to see if this is right for you.
My first session
During the current lockdown restrictions, all sessions are online, using face to face media including Skype and Zoom. For an online first session, my fee is £30.
During this session, we can explore what you need from therapy and whether counselling with me is the right choice. We can also explore whether short- or longterm therapy best suits your needs.
