About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lucy. I aim to offer you an authentic, empathic and compassionate presence. I aim to provide a sensitive and supportive setting where you feel attended to validated and understood, where your experiences are heard and acknowledged and where you are able to share, to explore, to understand and grow.

I offer a safe and confidential space for you to bring the emotions, life events, hopes and difficulties that you need to and also to support you to connect with you inner  strengths and resources.

I believe strongly in the unique potential and innate value of every individual and this is central to my counselling practice. Life events and experiences can at times be very difficult, other people can have a significant effect on us and these things can ‘determine’ who we become. Counselling offers a time to explore the impact of these elements and provide a space to understand ourselves, to heal and to grow.

I have worked therapeutically with adults who have experienced bereavement, anxiety, grief, panic, loneliness, loss of identity and also with adults who have experienced significant traumatic life events including loss of family, witnessing  death, victims of persecution, political refugees and trafficked people.

I have also worked extensively with children and young people at The NSPCC with traumatic backgrounds (neglect, physical and sexual abuse), experiences of poor parenting, domestic violence, separation and loss.

I am a BACP accredited Integrative Counsellor. This means is that I weave together different models of working therapeutically I also have a Diploma in the Therapeutic Use of the Arts. This means the counselling process can include creative ways of expressing yourself  such as with paint, image, writing and imaginative work. The arts can allow feelings to be expressed  in ways that can be very moving and often in ways that words can’t.
