About me and my therapy practice

Being an empath allows me to put myself in my client’s shoes and seeing the world from there heart and mind. The learning of empathy gave me awareness of how I create boundaries for my own feelings to that of my clients, ensuring I give my client a sense of understanding without judgement so they can trust me.

The relationship between me and my client is the most fundamental as I believe therapeutic alliance cannot be present, therefore making it difficult for client to engage within therapy.

The therapies I use to firstly build a trusting and safe environment by using the person-centred approach.

CBT can help explore behaviours by giving you alternative coping strategies and psychoeducation to help change your behaviour.

I will challenge you and explore early childhood memories or traumas by implementing psychodynamic techniques.

I use art therapy alongside talking therapy with creative exploration through paint, chalk, crayons and sometimes sculpture. I feel it can be particularly effective for clients who have difficulties verbally expressing themselves.

I have worked as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2012; I provide a safe, nurturing and empathic environment in which many issues can be worked within. I have experience of working with a number of different issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, panic disorders, relationship issues, eating disorders, abuse, phobias, addiction, bereavement, low self-esteem/confidence, family and cultural issues amongst many others.

I formulate a treatment outcome after exploring the following information to determine the correct treatment.

My first session

In your first session, I typically will ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps me make an initial assessment of your situation. Questions I might ask include:

Why you sought therapy. A particular issue probably led you to seek counseling. It helps me to understand your surface problem(s) before he can get to the deeper issues.

Your personal history and current situation. I will ask you a series of questions about your life. For example, because family situations play an important role in who you are, he’ll ask about your family history and your current family situation.

Your current symptoms. Other than knowing the reason you sought therapy, I will attempt to find out if you’re suffering from other symptoms of your problem. For example, your problem might be causing difficulty at work, or relationships. This will also allow us to explore the root of your problem to determine a long term solutions.

I will use this information to better understand your problem. And, while he may make a diagnosis at the end of your first visit, it’s more likely that a diagnosis will take a few more sessions.
