About me and my therapy practice
On occasions young people might experience difficulties that impact on their presentation and behaviours. Counselling can help children process, manage and overcome these challenges, and can improve self esteem and resilience.
As a qualified psychodynamic Child and Adolescent counsellor, I have experience of working therapeutically with children, young people and families in educational and charitable settings. I work with children and young people 1 to 1, and also facilitate focus groups: resilience, anxiety, self esteem and empowerment.
My aim is to provide a confidential, non judgemental and accepting environment where a therapeutic rapport can be established. I use talking and a range of creative methods: play, art, role plays. These help children and young people to share worries or problems, and explore thoughts, feelings and emotions.
A significant amount of my work is with young people who have complex needs including, social, emotional and communication difficulties,Autism, ADHD, ODD, Conduct disorder and dyslexia.
The presenting behaviours I have experience of working with include: Stress - exam pressure, Self harm, Anxiety, Bullying, Anger, OCD, high risk behaviours, loss, school refusal, social isolation, trauma/PTSD.
I can be flexible with the venue for therapy and offer concessionary rates.
