About me and my therapy practice

I’m a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Anxiety UK Approved Therapist. I offer a friendly client-centred service through individually tailored integrative counselling and brief talking therapies, with solutions for effective personal change.

I abide by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, attend regular monthly supervision, and undertake continuing personal and professional development training, and regularly throughout the year.

Moreover, I’ve developed successful, gentle, time efficient ways of doing personal change work, in order to help you overcome various life challenges, support you to reach your goals, feel empowered, and gain lasting personalised results.

In providing counselling and brief solution focused talking therapies that facilitate effective change, I utilise a wide range of therapeutic approaches, coupled with a strong underpinning knowledge of how issues come into being. Behaviour Therapy

I can help you replace negative behaviour with positive behaviour.

Cognitive Therapy

We could focus on thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and attitudes, identifying and changing unhelpful or inaccurate thinking, that may trigger or change certain feelings, and cause problematic behaviour and/or distressing emotional responses.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy

We could utilise a philosophical outlook, suggesting that you aren’t disturbed by events but by irrational beliefs about the events.

Psychodynamic Counselling

We could look at unconscious processes, uncovering forgotten events in early childhood that influence the development of our personalities, and our behaviour in adulthood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

We could utilise a combination of basic principles from both behavioural and cognitive forms of therapy, tackling thought distortions and maladaptive behaviours, considered the cause of many psychological problems.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

We might focus on solutions, that are future-focused and goal-directed, rather than on the problems that brought you to therapy.

Transpersonal Counselling

I could help you establish a sense of identity or self that extends beyond the individual or personal (trans) to encompass wider aspects of humankind, life, psyche or nature.

Integrative Counselling

Integrative counselling combines elements of various different theories, providing a specifically tailored integrated approach considered advantageous to you as a client.

My first session

I generally take a thorough case history in an empathically attuned and highly respectful manner. I will also discuss openly what strategies may be available to you, so that we can work collaboratively together. More than anything else, I'm present and completely attentive to you and your current (and/or past) experiences. You decide what you want to discuss or disclose, what matters to you, and what your goals for therapy are. We can determine your needs together, and in an empathic, supportive and highly respectful way.
