About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative/bereavement counsellor based in London. I have experience working with various mental health issues including depression, anxiety, anger, phobia, low self-confidence low self-esteem, phobia, post traumatic stress disorder, fear and more.

At present, I work remotely on a one to one basis and I also do online sessions. I have worked with clients of all age groups and backgrounds and that has enriched my cultural perception of the world. I use CBT, Psychodynamic, Person Centred approach and Gestalt therapy, as well as various bereavement models.

Also my warm personality, the use of positive facial expressions, and my active listening and responding skills correlate with my empathic understanding and helps vulnerable clients relax and feel comfortable during the sessions.

Asking open ended questions also helps clients probe into pent-up emotions that might have impacted them throughout their lives. I summarise everything that the clients say to ensure I don't miss out on relevant information. Homework is given to help target and work through unusual thoughts and behaviours to find solutions. Every now and then a review is done to track progress, verify the behaviour and its intensity and how long they last.

Session Fees are Individual £50 per session and Couples £90 per session.

Practice description

Prior to the pandemic, I saw clients privately on a one to one basis. At present, I work remotely in my home office, a small bright, safe and quiet space used for counselling clients. When working remotely I use Zoom, WhatsApp video, VSee or Microsoft Team which have all been effective for clients.

When I see clients face to face at the consulting rooms in Central London, I choose from ten newly and beautifully furnished and decorated rooms, specifically designed for counselling. The rooms are based on the third and fourth floor of a huge building on Union Street, a few minutes walk from London Bridge and Borough stations. The furniture is specially chosen for the comfort of the therapist and the client and pastel colours are used to attract a cool and calm atmosphere, ensuring the client and therapist feel safe and relaxed.

For safety reasons, every door has a unique code to allow counsellors to gain access to the consulting rooms. Clients are usually let in by counsellors and opening times are Monday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

My first session

The client-therapist relationship is the core of an effective therapeutic process that I go through with the client. Each person is unique and for that reason, clients are assessed during the initial session to ensure which of the various approaches may be suitable for their problems. I start by introducing myself and then ask the client to do the same. I assess the client to gain insight about why they came to therapy, what they expect, and ask if they have had therapy before and what sort of issues they are having difficulties with. I also discuss confidentiality, payments and meeting at weekly intervals. At the end of the first meeting, the client will then decide if I am the right therapist and if I meet their needs. If I am not the right therapist, the client will have to find a therapist that provides the right service that best suits their problems. However, if I am the right therapist for the client, we will set a goal, then arrange an appropriate time and date to start the next sessions.
