About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor working with couples, adults, young people and children. I have experience of working within the NHS; junior and senior schools; Relate; Cruse Bereavement Care; and the Hospice of St Francis.

I am primarily trained as a Humanistic Therapist (Person Centred), Relationship Counsellor (Systemic and Psychodynamic) and have specialised training in Cognitive Behavioural Couple Therapy for Depression. I also have experience of working and training using CBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative and Play Therapy.

It is important for me to work in collaboration with you so I can tailor therapy to meet your specific needs. We are all unique, and I ensure we build a safe therapeutic space that is individual to you.

At certain points in life we can all face struggles, whether its about the here and now, our past, or worries about our future. Sometimes it's for unknown reasons, and we might just feel low. I can offer a safe and non-judgmental space to explore these challenges, whatever they may be, and support you as you move forward.

I work from a non-pathologising perspective and understand that life can be very distressing. You may have been given a diagnosis of a 'disorder' and are struggling to make sense of how you feel. I will help you safely explore what has happened to you, whether it has been a traumatic incident, childhood adversity or other factors that have made life distressing and help you find a way to make sense of and better manage your distress.

There are many reasons why relationships might struggle, communication issues, parenting disagreements, imbalances in power, changes in family dynamics, bereavement, divorce, blended families, financial difficulties, ill-health, life stages (e.g. having children, retirement) and infidelity. My aim is to help you understand where your difficulties and distress are coming from and find more helpful ways of managing them.
