DON’T STRUGGLE IN SILENCE

BEREAVEMENT GRIEF & TRAUMA COUNSELLING

Bereavement counselling is recommended for anyone of any age whose loss seems overwhelming or whose life is being adversely affected by their grief and trauma. Turning to bereavement counselling after the loss of a loved one is not an admission of weakness but instead it is an admission of the strength to seek help when you need it. Talking about a loss of a loved one often helps you to adjust to your new way of life.

I am professionally trained and qualified to listen to you in a patient, empathetic, and non-judge mental way, providing you with the opportunity to express and explore your painful feelings and thoughts.

Online or Telephone Counselling: is a specialized type of counselling that involves supporting you if you have experienced: stress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma or loss of a loved one

Availability for my counselling sessions dates and times can be quite flexible. My fees are £55 per hr for each counselling session.

About me and my therapy practice

After struggling with the after effects and the pain of bereavement grief and trauma the after effects seemed never ending (after going through such mental pain) I remember reflecting back and asking myself “Why do most of us struggle in silence" for such a long time before we admit we need help?

Is it a sense of pride?

Guilty Feeling/s?

Not wanting anyone to know (all a big secret)?

Do we feel we are weak?

Fear of making the first step to seek help and support?

Or are we just stuck and in denial?

Whatever your feeling making the first step for counselling to gain help and support (don't struggle in silence).

Family, Friends & Carers: Losing a loved one and coping with depression, anxiety grief or trauma can be traumatic for Family Carers & Friends: Everyone reacts differently when they are overwhelmed with grief. There is no right or wrong way to deal with your feelings.

Children Teenagers & Young People: Children and young people all have different feelings just as much as adults.

Pet Bereavement: When a beloved pet dies it also is just as painful so please ensure you get in contact if you have lost a pet because losing a pet can also be a great loss.

Grief & Trauma

Grief and Trauma is another form of loss that is not well understood in our society and some people try to deny-it postpone-it or avoid-it.

Some people become angry, some people withdraw into themselves, and some people become completely lost in their lives and find it difficult to move-on with their lives.

Grief can occur not just after the death of a loved one but also after divorce, separation, miscarriage, stroke, disability moving home or redundancy. Sometimes grief may trigger mental health conditions such as panic & anxiety fear of the future which may also lead to depression and the feeling of isolation.

Sometimes it can be difficult to open-up and speak about your trauma or grief to anyone that is close to you. I will ensure have a safe and confidential space to talk about your feelings.

I am professionally trained and qualified to listen to you in a patient, empathetic, and non-judge mental way, providing you with the opportunity to express and explore your painful feelings and thoughts.

About me and my therapy practice

What Will My Supervision Include?

Supervision sessions can vary quite considerably. Like counselling itself, the content of supervision sessions can vary quite considerably. Sometimes there can be a more structured approach that require supervisees to bring detailed notes on particular clients, while other supervision sessions can be more open to seeing what emerges in session.

The types of topic that may be discussed are things such as:

• What made the client come into counselling - background, history, recent and events

• The experience of being with the client.

• Was there any transference and countertransference?

• How are you as the counsellor is feeling and why (sometimes this may extend to your personal wellbeing).

• How the client is feeling and why?

Types of Supervision?

There are many different types of supervision, ranging from one-to-one supervision, where I provide single supervision to a counsellor, there are group supervision, where I offer supervision by dividing time equally between counsellors, before focusing on the work of each on each counsellor.

In addition, there is also one-to-one co-supervision, where two counsellors provide supervision for each other, alternating the role of supervisor and counsellor, and dividing time equally between them, and peer supervision. In peer supervision, three or more counsellors share responsibility for providing each other’s supervision within the group.
