About me and my therapy practice
I believe everyone holds within them the power to accept themselves, to grow and in time find their own sense of self, choice and happiness. Whatever has lead you to search for a counsellor today, you have taken an important step towards this.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, this means that I experience you, the client, in terms of your whole being. Every individual is different and seeks counselling for different reasons. This is why I believe that no single therapy can suit everybody.
As I begin to develop an understanding of you and your world, and as we explore how you are feeling within that world I will bring in counselling approaches and techniques that I feel resonate with you and and the intentions that bought you counselling.
I feel that to be truly listened to, heard, valued and respected with sensitivity and care by another person can be a rare experience in this world, and this is the base to my Counselling philosophy. I work in a gentle, and relational way. I believe that counselling is about forming an authentic, two-way process of being real with one another. The counselling relationship is a confidential, non-judgmental and nurturing holding space in which I will help and encourage you to find clarity and understanding within yourself and your life.
I currently work part time as a Counsellor within the NHS alongside my own private practise.
I am a Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, this means I work in line with their ethical requirements and attend regular supervision sessions to ensure I am working ethically and to the best of my ability.
I appreciate that finding the right counsellor can seem daunting, I will always offer you a free consultation session so that you can gain a sense of whether I’m the right counsellor for you.
I offer sessions in Barnstaple, the room is located discreetly and offers a warm, relaxing and calm space.
