About me and my therapy practice
It is not unusual to feel stressed about beginning therapy with someone you don't know. I will do all I can to make you feel comfortable and welcome when taking these first steps. It is my belief that everyone is unique and deserves to be treated as such, with honesty, respect and compassion.
I consider therapy to be a working partnership that will offer you as much support and control as you need. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace and decide for yourself the issues you wish to work on.
I am a person-centred practitioner with an MA in Clinical Counselling from the University of Chester and a member of the BACP. I have worked with both NHS referred and private clients and have helped with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, stress, work related issues, relationship issues, self-esteem and social anxiety. I believe the person-centred approach to be well researched, well established, gentle, effective and potentially very empowering. This form of therapy does not focus on labels or diagnosis, but allows many clients to experience deep and lasting positive change.
I have also completed levels 1-3 training of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This is a research based approach, popular in the USA, which includes a detailed assessment to pinpoint the strengths and issues in a relationship and identify the best methods to help improve communication and reduce conflict.
Practice description
I am currently offering face-to-face sessions at the Zenchi clinic in Clotton, near Tarporley and at the Rosebank centre in Northwich. I also offer Zoom and telephone sessions. These will be subject to a Covid-19 assessment depending on the current advice.
Sessions are open ended allowing you to work at your own pace and decide how much support you need.
My first session
Following an initial phone call, our first session will be charged at less than my standard fee for an hour in order to make sure we can work well together.
We would use our first session to get to know each other a little, discuss how we would work together and how therapy may be able to help.
If we cannot find a suitable time for sessions, or there is any other reason why we are not a good fit, I will try my best to help refer you elsewhere.
What I can help with
Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Men's issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Trauma, Women's issues
Types of therapy
Emotionally focused therapy, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Phenomenological
