About me and my therapy practice
In the same way that we have physical health, we all have mental health that fluctuates in response to how we, as individuals, experience different life events. For many of us, our experience of the problems or challenges that we face can leave us feeling anxious or depressed for periods of time not knowing quite how we got there or how to change things for the better.
I believe that counselling offers a safe space to be listened to, without judgement, providing an opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours resulting from difficult life events. Through counselling, individuals are able to make sense of their personal experiences, enabling them to make positive changes to achieve emotional wellbeing and happiness in their lives.
As a qualified Humanistic counsellor, I offer a person-centred approach developing genuine relationships with people and placing emphasis on the importance of human connection. I acknowledge that we are all unique and work by integrating different counselling approaches to best suit the person and their situation. I integrate Gestalt therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioural Techniques (CBT) and, where appropriate, I work with Ecotherapy approaches, understanding that contact with nature and that walking and talking in our natural environment can contribute to our physical health resulting in improved mental wellbeing.
