About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for stopping to look at my profile. I know that choosing a counsellor can seem a really daunting task.
If you are looking for friendly, professional support, I offer a non-judgmental space in which you can safely and confidentially unpick and explore whatever it is that has brought you to therapy. It is so important to feel truly heard and seen in life, and this will be at the heart of our therapeutic relationship - I am here to listen.
I work in a person-centred way, meaning that you are central to the process; it is always about you and for you. But I will draw from several different modes of therapy as we work together to solve your puzzles. As we are all unique, so I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all adventure but needs to be tailored and evolved to suit who we are.
I work with adults of all ages and can offer help with self-esteem, depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, abuse, addiction and eating disorders, anger, and relationship issues.
I offer 50 minute counselling sessions face to face in your own home; by video call/telephone; or Walk and Talk.
If you live within a 5 mile radius of Stroud, Gloucestershire, then I will be happy to come to your home. This might suit you if you prefer to be face to face in the presence of a counsellor, but find it hard to get out for whatever reason.
If a video call suits you better, I use Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp, or maybe you would simply prefer counselling by using the phone. Whatever way suits you best.
If you like the thought of being out walking in nature during your session then we can meet at an arranged place to Walk and Talk. This works well for those who feel confined sitting in one place talking for a length of time, and also being in nature has such therapeutic benefits.
I also offer a more practical hands on session in your home if you need help with letting go, with decluttering or hoarding.
My first session
During the first session we would discuss what has brought you to therapy, and if you have any goals or hopes for what therapy might bring you. We would also go over a 'contract' that I make with clients so that we work safely together: we'll talk about boundaries, confidentiality, covid safety etc.
The first session is also an opportunity for us to see whether we are a good 'fit', and you can decide whether you want to work with me or not.
