About me and my therapy practice
It is not easy reaching out for help, and I know that choosing a counsellor can seem a really daunting task - so well done for getting this far! I offer a safe, non-judgmental space in which we can confidentially unpick and explore whatever it is that has brought you to therapy. It is so important to feel truly heard and seen in life, and this will be at the heart of our therapeutic relationship - I am here to listen.
I work in a person-centred way, meaning that you are central to the process; it is always about you and for you. But I will draw from several different modes of therapy as we work together to solve your puzzles. As we are all unique, so I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all adventure but needs to be tailored and evolved to suit who we are.
I work with adults of all ages and can offer talking therapy for self-esteem, depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, abuse, addiction and eating disorders, anger, relationship issues, childhood issues, trauma, grief, sadness, and more.
Sometimes all that is needed is a confidential space to focus on yourself with a person you trust. Whatever it is you need to unpack, I will be by your side.
I offer 50 minute counselling sessions by way of video/phone call, or home visits for those living near me. I also offer sessions as Walk and Talk.
If you live within a 10 mile radius of Stroud, Gloucestershire, then I will be happy to come to your home. This might suit you if you prefer to be face to face in the presence of a counsellor, and live locally to Stroud. I charge £50 a session for home visits.
If you prefer to be outside in nature, we can Walk and Talk - again if you live in Gloucestershire and are happy to meet within a 10 mile radius of Stroud. I charge £50 for Walk and Talk.
If a video call suits you better, I offer sessions online using Zoom. You might prefer this as you live further away from me, or simply because you like to be that little bit removed whilst still in the comfort of your own home. I charge £40 a session when working online.
I am triple vaccinated against Covid-19, and continue to do lateral flow tests on the days when I am face to face with my clients.
My first session
During the first session we may discuss what has brought you to therapy. We would also go over a 'contract' that I make with clients so that we work safely together: we'll talk about boundaries, confidentiality etc. We may start exploring your present world, or we may begin a timeline looking at prominent moments in your life up to now. This is your space to use in the way that benefits your the most.
