About me and my therapy practice

The vast majority of us will not be used to cutting ourselves off from others, and even though there are compelling medical reasons for us to do this right now, we are going to feel lonely, and at risk of sliding into depression or anxiety. And if you are already struggling with either of these conditions, or loss, or addiction, or some other issue which is impacting on your well being, then it's critically important that you reach out.
Please remain connected to friends and family via the telephone, and ideally courtesy of video links so that you do not disenable them from giving you the support that you need. And if you need professional help , then therapists like myself are already geared up to offer online counselling and, although it isn't quite as helpful as face to face in person counselling, my existing clients are finding it useful and supportive.
Now, let us begin.
I am a fully qualified counsellor who has sat where you are right now, not just because our training requires us to have personal therapy, but because my life also became unmanageable. I trained at the Gestalt Centre in London, acknowledged as one of the world's leading centres for psychotherapy and counselling. I also worked as a pro bono counsellor at the mental health charity MIND for more than two years, and in doing so watching people turn their lives around through empathy and support.
I specialise in working with clients who have anxiety, are depressed, or struggling with some form of addiction, or bereavement or loss. I offer sessions starting at £40 for 50 minutes to students and the low waged, moving up to £65 if they see me in East London, and £85 in Clerkenwell (the extra £20 is required to cover the room hire).
Currently I am meeting my clients online in a secure setting. Once the pandemic is over and it is safe for us to all move around again I will resume face to face meetings either at my therapy rooms in Clerkenwell or at my home in Bow. The majority of my clients come to Bow and it is a three minute walk from the Tube station and there is no shared entry. All very private and discreet.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for you to get to know me, and for me to get to know you.
It is hopefully also the beginning of a collaboration between both of us to work together to help you feel better and get the most out of your life.
Gestalt therapy is sometimes referred to as "Here and Now" and in essence it is, because by helping you to become less rooted in past difficulties (which you can't influence) and future worries (which again you have no or little control over), you can be more present.
We believe that the more present you are the more able you are to cope with and eventually overcome difficulties, as you have the power to respond to these in the here and now, perhaps in a way you haven't before, so that the outcome is different and more positive.
So I suppose in the first session we are testing the waters so to speak, to see if you are ready to do the work, as it might be you are not quite ready for a therapeutic journey, and need a little bit more space first.
Assuming that you are we agree to have six sessions and check back in half way through those to see if you think therapy is working for you.
