About me and my therapy practice

My core counselling approach is in person-centred theory, and I have attended additional training which I integrate into my sessions to give a more integrative approach. This will allow you to talk freely about what is troubling you.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space to help you explore, express and process what’s going on, which in turn will allow you to find solutions to cope or make effective changes.

Forming and maintaining a trusting, therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the person-centred approach, and I believe my natural ability to be compassionate and genuine will help to promote this. Also, I accept clients for who they are, showing respect, which means I am non-judgemental.

I have some creative ideas for anyone who likes to work more creatively.

Practice description

I offer short or long term counselling sessions.

When working by Zoom or telephone, sessions are for 1 hour, fees are £35 per session. When I return to face to face/in person, sessions, they are for 50 minutes, fees £45 per session.

Before and during my counselling training I worked for three and a half years as a Macmillan Professional, employed by a charity emotionally supporting people affected by brain tumours. If you are struggling with the emotions of a medical diagnosis from a chronic illness or disease, whether you are the patient, family member, carer or friend, I know it can be overwhelming at times. If you feel you need help and support to understand your feelings about a medical diagnosis, then please get in touch.

Prior to training to be a counsellor I worked for 8 years in a nursery, 5 of those I was nursery manager. I have an Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies, which is where my interest in attachment and relationships began. This endorses my knowledge and consolidates my skills to be able to work with a range of ages.

My first session

Before our first session I will send you our therapy agreement. This will give you an opportunity to consider if you have any questions, or want to add or negotiate any of the terms which we can discuss in our first session.

I will welcome you to our first session, check that you have all that you need, and then we can start to discuss and agree our therapy agreement.

Once this is completed, and when you are ready, you will have the chance to tell me about your struggles or challenges. I will walk alongside you on your journey.
