About me and my therapy practice

I have twenty years of experience working as a counsellor within Primary Care and seventeen years as the Co-ordinator of Durham Dales Primary Care Counselling Service. I gained an Advanced Diploma in Counselling from Durham University in 1999,  became  accredited with the BACP in 2001 and completed a Diploma in Supervision at St Johns Ripon and York from September 2003-June 2004.

In my counselling role I have gained a wealth of experience in time-limited therapy working with a broad range of mild to moderate mental health conditions. The role of Co-ordinator has involved supporting the counselling team to develop best practice, arranging training opportunities, maintaining relationships with Practice Managers and communicating with the local Clinical Commissioning Group with regard to monitoring and evaluating the service.

I am a humanistic, integrative supervisor and draw on a range of theories and approaches. I hope to provide a safe comfortable space in order to build a high level of trust, the relationship within supervision is of paramount importance. This will facilitate open and honest reflection and exploration of the dynamics within the counselling relationship and the impact this may have on you.

I am a mature person who has four adult children and grandchildren. I have many interests and hobbies and would like to think that this helps to keep me young at heart and enthusiastic.

Please call me on the number above if you would like further information or to set up an initial meeting.

I look forward to hearing from you.
