About me and my therapy practice
Life can be challenging and it is helpful to look at any concerns with a suitably qualified counsellor who is independent of your situation. As a counsellor I offer you a safe relationship in which to talk about your difficulties, whether there is a particular issue to explore, or a more general feeling of discomfort. Counselling can then increase your understanding of what troubles you, help you make choices and enable you to live a more satisfying life.
In my experience counselling is rarely limited to a specific issue and I work with whatever you bring. I see people who are experiencing a crisis or who may simply wish to examine how they are living. I have worked across a range of life issues including bereavement, suicide, family/relationship, ageing/life transitions, mental health, trauma and abuse, and much more.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with a Post-graduate Diploma in Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton. I am an accredited member of BACP and abide by their code of ethics.
Prior to being a counsellor I worked as a mental health nurse. In addition to my counselling qualification I have a degree in English Literature and believe in the therapeutic potential of reading and writing.
I have worked for Sussex Community Counselling (SCDA) in their low-cost and suicide counselling services, and continue to undertake assessments for their counselling service. I have previously been a bereavement counsellor with Cruse.
I work in both a time-limited way, offering a fixed number of sessions, or we can have a more open-ended contract.
I offer telephone counselling or we can meet face to face in a counselling room in central Seaford. This is located a short walk from the train station and bus stops and has parking.
